“I’ll never apologize!”

“Remember that when you have to pay a little bit more, $4—it’s okay. I mean, it’s… I’ll never apologize, I did the right thing. After we finish defeating Iran […] pretty soon I’ll be declaring the Hormuz Strait a territory of the United States.”

Who said this?

Hint #1: It’s someone who’s never personally been to a gas station in their life. So, to his mind, our gas prices, which are breaking many people, is just “a little bit more.” When campaigning, he promised gas would be under $2.00. The lowest in my town right now is $5.29. To him, “It’s okay.”

Hint #2: It’s a person who’s never apologized for anything in their life––to God or to people. Why would he have to? He’s the G.O.A.T.! Plus, there’s always Biden to blame.

Hint #3: It’s someone who never minds making outlandish promises, like declaring the Strait a territory of the US, without any intention or any authority to actually fulfill their promise. He comes at us every day with the confidence of a guy holding 4 aces when everyone watching can clearly see he’s holding 3 Uno cards and a coupon for 20% off at Target!

Hint #4: It’s someone who feeds on applause, and since he got a rousing one when he said this, none of the above matters to him or to those who applauded. The adrenaline rush of being fawned over is oxygen to his ego, such as it is.
